'Towards A Radical Democracy' by Douglas M. Brown.<br /><br />It examines the Western liberal tradition very closely and explains just why it is anti-democratic at its core. I don't agree with all of Brown's thinking (I don't believe direct democracy is preferable to a representative republic with democratic controls, for instance...
