I am saying that he deserves some criticism for that, and that people and organizations in favor of legalization should continue to pressure political figures and attempt to educate the public at large on the issue.

The Drug Sitzkrieg is a tremendous misuse of resources, violates many civil liberties, and restrains trade while failing to live up to its justifications of public health, public morality, and public safety. The public health and public morality arguments are undermined by the inconsistent policies toward alcohol and tobacco while the public safety argument is destroyed by the fact that prohibition means that drug sales are entirely inseparable from more violent crime, even if it weren't undermined by our policy of jailing the users and not the dealers. The Eclectic Geekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00816048674683037441noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3598011236524370092.post-31928789807072271932009-04-12T00:33:00.000-07:002009-04-12T00:33:00.000-07:00I don't believe that President Obama will act on a...I don't believe that President Obama will act on a measure to legalize the use of 'Weed' as it is sometimes called, in his first term. (Another common name for this plant is 'Pot'.) The reason he won't act on it in a timely manner, is obvious to me.
He is well aware that that this issue is explosive and it could affect the outcome of the election for his second term. The populace are at a equal mindset of wanting the measure or not approving of it.
The President has a sharp intuition and knowledge, and probably would not let this slip by him. This issue along with one or two other explosive issues, could cost him his re-election should he act on them. And I think he knows that.
It is my opinion that he is too savvy to miss this important possible chain of events.RoseAnn Hausmannoreply@blogger.com
